Wild Pulp

We recently came across the wonderful work of Wild Pulp. Created by Christopher Owen Smith, Wild Pulp is photographic work created with hand-cut paper templates and natural materials for the eco sensitive home, woodland / wildlife themed nursery, down-to-earth cabin and lodge. Take a look at some of our favorites!

Susan Benarcik

While living in the hustle and bustle of New York City, Susan Benarcik makes her living creating installation art and surface designs. She focuses her art making in on the natural world, resulting in highly tactile work made from a variety of papers. Benarcik’s bulbous forms are created through manipulation of her material, with twisting, wrapping and stacking. She explores the third-dimension, evoking curiosity and interaction of space between her art and viewers. See a preview of her work below, but be sure to visit her website to see more of her creations.

Prominent Figures

Ok, this might be the coolest thing we’ve ever seen. This video by Prominent Figures was made for Josh Ritter’s “Love Is Making Its Way Back Home” single. It was created with over 12,000 pieces of construction paper, shown as it was shot, with no effects added in post. Um, yeah. Kind of amazing. We are loving every detail about this video – the music, the animation, the story – just wonderful. Have a look!

You can check out more incredible videos – yeah, there’s more of this awesomeness – at Prominent Figures website here!

Wilhelm Staehle’s Silhouette Masterpiece Theatre

Wilhelm Staehle is a gentleman from the east coast who has a knack for humor, good taste and the ability to use silhouettes to exercise that talent. We absolutely love the good humor.  And yes, there are beautiful patterns and fanciful cutouts, but more than anything, it’s about laughing and realizing all the pish posh about being serious is well, pish posh.  Okay, so we’re totally applauding his pure talent with an X-ACTO, too. And his graphic design abilities.  I think we’ve come to the conclusion that he’s good. Anyhow, enjoy his work, have a good chuckle and head over to his website to see more! The following is from his Silhouette Masterpiece Theatre.
