Misato Suzuk

Misato Suzuk is a Japanese artist who currently lives and works in Los Angeles, California. Both her paintings and illustrations demonstrate delicate, organic lines combined with a neutral color palette.  Although her preferred mediums are two-dimensional, her line work successfully creates shapely, bulbous forms. Subtle accents of ink splotches grace her surfaces, and add to the the soft and muted mood of her abstractions. Suzuk’s tranquil work is fluid and beautiful, making it a pleasure to view. Check out some of our favorites below and visit her website to see the rest of her work.

Florence & Millie Relaunch Party!

As many of you know, back in May we held a relaunch party for Florence and Millie here in Savannah. We thought we’d finally share about it with those who weren’t able to make it. The party was an amazing success! It was held to bring a personal connection to the blog. There was amazing artwork displayed by local artists, food made by our very own Kat Lucas, fun games, and a photo booth! There was also a raffle with different prizes offered to the attendees that included a tie from Hack and Hue, an independent tie shop out of Brooklyn, NY and illustrations from Heather Pullen.

A big highlight of the evening was a performance by the Milk Factory Bandits. Their southern twangy soul filled the room with warmth and good thoughts. You can listen to more of their music at here!
Thank you so much to Jen, Melissa, and Alexis for taking photos and video, and of course a big thank you to everyone who came to the party!

Teo Zirinis

Welp. Finals are officially over and summer has officially started! We are excited to be posting more regularly on Florence & Millie now that we have conquered the craziness that is finals. We thought we’d start off the week with these wonderfully creative illustrations by Teo Zirinis. Teo is a talented illustrator from Athens, Greece and his vintage like illustrations are so humorous, witty, and fun. Every one of his works makes us happy – I mean, how can you not smile at the sight of breakfast foods holding hands and dancing in a line? We give a big gold star to you today Mr. Zirinis. Thanks for making us smile 🙂

Bianca Green

Bianca Green is an incredible mixed media artist from Montevideo, Uruguay. We had the hardest time deciding which of her works to feature, because they are ALL so amazing! We absolutely love all of the patterns and illustrations that she uses, and her overall style is just so lovely. She has had select works sold in Urban Outfitters and all of her work is featured and can be purchased at Society 6 or Deny Designs. Check out Bianca’s incredible work and make sure to go to her website to see more!

Dan Madsen : Dusty Signs

Dan Madsen of Dusty Signs is a traditional sign painter who’s work we are totally digging right now. His work has such an artistic and authentic style that communicates wonderfully. The fact that he had paints all of his signs just adds points to how awesome he is. Take a look at this rad video of Dan creating one of his signs and then head on here to see more of his work!

Amanda Wachob

We absolutely love Amanda Wachob.  Not only is she an artist, she’s revolutionizing an ancient art form and doing it like a boss.  Amanda is a tattoo artist from Buffalo, NY who currently lives in New York City.

Amanda has taken the art of tattooing to another world entirely.  We are so blown away with the expression and painterly quality of her work.  She is a genius when it comes to tattooing. Her work goes beyond just mimicking painting, but it really brings the art form to a fine art museum quality.  She pushes the idea of a tattoo past the traditional tattoo with the eye of a true artist. Needless to say, we’re overwhelmed by her talent.

So, peruse her work, and head on over to her website to see what else she’s been doing. You’ll be blown away. We guarantee.

Florian Nicolle

Illustrator Florian Nicolle’s work is inspiring us so much. Layering scans of newspaper, ink, paint, as well as digital retouching, he creates at these beautiful and outstanding portraits. We think it’s amazing that he was able to use such simple materials to create such incredible work. His Behance says, “I try to create an image that retains its freshness of the first paint stroke, the expressions of the line have to be very free and spontaneous. While keeping a rigorous drawing. So i use fast techniques, like a bic, large brush, watercolor and chines ink.
I draw a picture as if I wrote a text, with the same tool, the same freedom, erasures, lines, scribbles, …”  Florians website is full of wonderful things and you should head over there after you take a look at some of our favorites!
